California-based Circles Around the Sun is an instrumental jam band that came to be as a studio project of guitarist Neil Casal in response to a request from the Grateful Dead for instrumental music to play during the set breaks of the fabled 2015 “Fare Thee Well” concerts in Santa Clara, California and Chicago. When fans went wild over the set-break music, the band decided to play live as well, making their public debut to great acclaim at the 2016 Lock’n Festival. Band members include: Neil Casal on guitar, Adam MacDougall on keyboards, Dan Horne on bass and Mark Levy on drums.
