Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What exactly is CouchConcert?

CouchConcert is a website featuring live performance videos by dozens of bands in the jam/improv, indie/alt and classic rock genres curated from YouTube. We comb YouTube on a daily basis looking for freshly posted live performance videos to add to existing artist playlists. If you have ideas for other bands and artists not already featured on CouchConcert.net, let us know…

How do I use it?

We designed CouchConcert to be easy-to-use. All you need to do is click on the band or artist you want to see and sit back and watch. The playlists are designed to automatically move onto successive live performance videos by the chosen band or artist. When you are tired of watching one band, use the handy-dandy drop-down menu in the upper right of every CouchConcert page to choose another one. It’s great for ‘casting to your TV (with Google’s Chromecast, Amazon’s FireTV or Apple TV) while you are cooking dinner or hanging out with friends. The great music will fill the air, and you can watch someone take a solo if you’re so inclined to look that way. Set it and forget it. You won’t regret it.

Does CouchConcert own the rights to the videos it is showing?

No. CouchConcert’s curators make YouTube playlists and then embed them into the corresponding band/artist pages on our site. All of the video content you can watch on CouchConcert is coming to you directly off of YouTube. If you would rather watch our playlists directly on YouTube without the “skin” of CouchConcert.net, check out our YouTube channel

Why is there only one video showing per band/artist?

Each band/artist page on CouchConcert actually features a playlist of many live performance videos, so all you have to do to enjoy the content is sit back and let the videos stream to your screen in succession.

How does CouchConcert make money?

CouchConcert is currently a labor of love and we don’t make any money from what we are doing. Enjoy!
