Medeski Martin & Wood (MMW) is a seminal avant/funk/jazz band formed in 1991 by three of the hippest hepcats from the New York City jazz scene. They have been creating the blueprint for exploratory funk-based jazz jamming ever since. Guitarist John Scofield is a frequent collaborator. Band members include: John Medeski, Billy Martin and Chris Wood.
